Distressed Tri Colored Side Table

Distressed Tri Colored Side Table
It's time again for one of my favourite blog hops... "Themed Furniture Makeover". This month's theme is "Neutral". Neutral to me doesn't mean beige or boring... these small tables are easy to find, and easy to update with a little paint...

Here is what it looked like when I bought it. These types of tables are easy to find and easy to update.

I started out by giving it a basecoat of leftover "Pure and Original" paint in a dark brownish grey called "RISTRETTO"
I followed with a coat of white "Waverly" chalk paint and the final coat was a mix of pale yellow and blue leftover "Blackberry House" furniture paint that became this pale green. It wasn't doing much for me at this stage so I decided to take my trusty mouse sander to it to expose the colors underneath.

Then it was like magic and I made sure to distress all of the edges to reveal the white and "Ristretto" on all of the curves and details of the table. Now we were talking!

I chose these colors thinking that it might look great in someone's lake cottage, and will be bringing it to my booth to try and sell.

I may just have to use these three colours again on something else...

because the distressing turned out better than planned. I just love the new patina on it.

Hope I have inspired you to get your layers on!
